It’s the last day of the year and although I could say I will be glad to see the back of it, sadly next year promises most of the same. Two weeks ago everything was going great and it all looked very promising for a good recovery. One week ago I was just coming out of surgery to have a torn tendon repaired, and by this time next week I will know how successful this operation has been (or not).

I’m really feeling sorry for myself today (although I’m trying very hard not to), its New Year’s Eve and 14 years since the day Steve and I met. Unfortunately we will not be in Portugal as usual, nor will we be going out tonight. As I’m unable to put in my contact lenses, I can’t even see my own face to put on any make up. I can’t have a bath (in case I get stuck) nor can I have a shower as I still need to keep my dressing dry. I’m limited to what clothes I can wear (button up shirts only) and I will be wearing these rotten surgical socks until 4 February. It’s also a bit of an ordeal trying to eat with one hand in a sling and I don’t want to ask Steve to cut up my food in public. On a positive side I have been to the hairdressers this morning (as I’m unable to wash my own hair) so thanks to Natalia my hair does look fab 🙂

So this New Year’s Eve Steve and I will be staying at home, eating party food, drinking wine and watching a film. Unfortunately due to the amount of pain-killers I’m taking, my wine will be non-alcoholic – but at least I can pretend. Cheers  Steve, Happy Anniversary darling and thank you for all your help and support 🍷🍷🍷

A big ‘Thank You’ to all of you too – especially those who have regularly left me words of encouragement, these really do help. I hope that 2016 is a great year for you all and fingers crossed I will be soon on the long road to recovery.
