Tomorrow I have my follow up appointment with the consultant and he will ask me how its going, so what will I tell him?
Well the pain has gone and I can now use my arm to lift a cup and brush my hair, which is a huge improvement. The wound has healed nicely and the bruising is all gone although my shoulder is still a little stiff but I believe that this will improve with physio. HOWEVER – I still have a lot of discomfort around the back of the shoulder which I thought would vanish after the surgery. I am hoping that this is just because my arm has not been used properly for some time and the muscle has become stiff, I will ask the question tomorrow.
I have been a good girl and although it’s getting very boring I have been doing my physio exercises three times a day. Some days it seems like all I do is physio exercises and take my pills but I tell myself that it will all be worth it in the end. HOWEVER – it concerns me that my left shoulder is now giving me problems again. Since starting my physio I have been doing the exercises with both arms and now the left one is clicking a lot more and the shoulder is painful. I know that I’m lucky to be able to use the arm at all after two operations last year but no matter how much the consultant tries to reassure me that its OK I still feel that something is not quite right.
Overall I expect that he will be quite happy tomorrow, maybe I’ll have x-rays done and be given another appointment for a few months time, but as long as I can get rid of these awful socks I will be happy. 🙂
Ah yes – the TEDS. Worse thing about any operation!!! You still haven’t let us into your secret about wearing a skirt and not wearing “other things”! 😉 You are doing well especially with the physio. Keep up the good work. I am still doing my exercises 6 months post op – but thankfully not 3 times a day any more.
