It’s been a better day today. I  slept ok and we had a lovely Christmas lunch. I’m still in a lot of pain but am reluctant to increase the codeine too much, although I do think I will do that before bed tonight and in the morning, it may make the 4 hour journey home more bearable.

It’s not been an easy weekend but I’d have been in the same amount of pain at home and at least I got to spend Christmas with Steve instead of being in hospital on my own. The next couple of weeks until I see the consultant are going to be really hard – waiting to know how successful the op went and what the chances are of full recovery. I’m lucky to have Steve with me to drag me out of my black hole in the mornings and to help me through each day.
